Updates and more Updates

After the 2012 sailing season, I had set a plan on what needed doing to further improve the boat, and fix the items that did not really work that well.

Jobs Completed

Added another 30 mm of insulation to the freezer, seems to work as it should now. Ambon will test it
Purchased a sailmaking sewing machine and re-sewed the trampolines with Tenara thread. Using Sunbrella manufactured a sun cover for the saloon, made covers for most of the hatches and replaced the zipper in the lazy jack bag.
Purchased from Rolly Taskers in Thailand a new staysail.
Had the large spinnaker luff shortened by 3m.
Had to replace the inverter as the old one caught fire.
Installed a wind generator on a 3.5m high stainless tube, I am totally unimpressed with it, although it works the noise is annoying to a point we need to stop it at night, the power it produces is not worth the effort if you ask me.
Started the install of a Watt and Sea hydrogenerator, once tested if it works as is reported I'll remove the wind generator, and maybe even the mast.
Installed a new AIS class B transponder, not fully working yet. Ordered Nobeltec's TimeZero Trident with charts for Australia and PNG. The Map Media 3D charts are cover a huge area which ends up been more economical then C-Map.
Purchased additional safety equipment, MOB Danbuoy, installed Jack Stays.
Purchased a Portable Dive Compressor, it will fit under the Day Bed - 3.0 Cu/ft min, up to 4,200 psi - oh and 3 new tanks too.
Purchased a HP i5 laptop running win7 to replace my aging Dell.

Wind Generator on its new mast

You can see below the new stitching - Tenara thread is difficult to sew with, plus this is the heavy duty version which means it has 2 separate threads wrapped together, you can see a skipped stitch, not many in the whole job fortunately

Repaired Trampoline

A nice new dive compressor, producing around 3.0 cubic feet a minute. Fills an half empty tank in about 13 minutes, filters and pruifiers are easy and cheap to change, and is an easy 2 man lift.

Trips

We have had time to take the boat out - just, a day out at Easter, not really any wind. Been though the lock a few times with zero impact, so would have to say we are getting better at it or folks are shouting at me louder

A weekend away at Dundee Beach, great sailing a bit surfing on the way there with a following fresh breeze, up to 13.6 knots. A bit of motoring into the SE on the way back but was not too strong, a great weekend.

Coming Ashore at Dundee Beach, we got a soaking on the return trip in the dark - that's boating
