Planning "Where we put Stuff"

Basic Rules to Follow

There is no doubt about it and I think most folks would agree - this is one big boat, which should, one would think ride the waves quite nicely. But a fundamental rule is to keep as much weight close to the centre of the boat. This should help reduce pitching and make for a faster smoother ride, which means even in bumpy conditions you don't have to keep one hand on your glass of red.

I am trying to locate all the heavy gear as close to the mast bulkhead as possible, this includes:- Anchor chain, AC Genset, Washing Machine, Water Maker, House Batteries and Diving Gear.... Oh and Mast of course

There is one exception of course. ENGINES. The engines are in there own compartments approximatley 4m from the stern of the boat. This was another soul searching decision, because its best if the motors are in the middle of the boat, but did not fancy sharing my berth with a smelly individual, well not that sort of smell.

General Accomodation Layout

Both hulls are pretty much a copy of each other. There is nothing in the first 4m of the hulls, well if you count the shower as really not been accomodation there is nothing in the first 5m of the hulls. So starting forward we have a shower - then a toilet and handbasin - then a single berth - very high off the sole, then a double berth. That brings us to central part of the boat - the hulls have some general worktops - a workshop in one side and general storage in the other side. In the saloon we have the galley - lounge area - inside steering position and nav area.

Further aft, in both hulls, we have a double cabin. The escape hatch is in chamfer panel in this area of the boat. Not that I think we will ever need to use the escape hatch. Well I hope not anyway, but its really nice to watch the sea charging by when underway.

Cupboards Everywhere

There is a hell of a lot of these. Think we well end up with close to 80 doors to hang (could be more) and every door has 2 sides and 4 edges to prime, sand and paint. One of the reasons this phase of the construction takes so long
