Doing this again ?
A little over a year after launching Joan Bell I had a good idea
of what I really wanted in a Cruising Catamaran.
Its stange that one needs to own a boat and for that matter sail one for a decent period time
before you figure out what you really want, or at least your desires are. I am going to try and make the site entertaining as well as informative. I have been told the previous site was full of good information but presented in a pretty matter of fact fashion - a bit too dry and too serious. So will try, I am afterall a none serious sort of Person - well if you are building a second boat in a lifetime, well there has to be something sort of screwy with you - well actually this is the third boat - built a ferro sloop in the UK - but that was another life.
Like I have said we are doing all this again - but bigger and better - Remember bigger is always, always better, no matter what anyone tells you.
So well what did I want out of my new boat - now I had a blank sheet of paper, so what's the plan - something like this developed.
- Speed
I wanted a boat that had the cabability to do over 250 miles a day.
- Cockpit Layout
Visibility - See where one is going just has to be a good thing - yes ?
- Powering
Sometimes the wind does not blow or blows dead against you - engines work in this senario.
- Safety
Sirocco is going to be used for world cruising - so has to be safe.
Many other ideas went through my mind during the initial planning stage - Some were followed up and others dismissed as costly and a waste of time - Hope you enjoy the site and any future boating or boatbuilding activities. Cheers John.
