Foreward Cockpit Structurally Complete.
Ready to cut out the windows - Some framing still in place
Bits that make this a sail boat

Everything up Front

The forward cockpit is where all the action should be. We have 4 winches located around the cockpit. The primary halyard winch is an Anderson Electric compact below deck winch (Main, Screecher and Spinnaker). Opposite that I have a Meissner 55 which we will use for secondary halyards and reefs. At the aft end of the cockpit I have 2 Lewmar 54:1 used for Headsail, Spinnaker and Screecher sheets. We have large drains in the forward cockpit that I think would empty the cockpit in seconds should be take a real big green on in the cockpit. All halyards are cleated on the mast with Lewmar clutches and backup up by standard horn cleats.

Mainsheet comes back to the forward cockpit too although I have a standard traveller on the rear beam.

Sails

One massive 100 sqm mainsail with 3 reefs. Leech reef lines come to the forward cockpit and the luff is simply a web strap that loops over some stainless hooks at the gooseneck. We have Bainbridge luff and leech receptacles, both adjustable so we should be able to get enough tension on the batterns. I am using a Windslyce batten car system. I have a Symmetrical Spinnaker that I intend to fly when running close to downwind, the tack lead through a block on the windward bow and the clew lead aft to the rear quarter and then forward to the cockpit. For a shade closer to the wind up to say 110 - 70 ° of apparent (yet to be tested of course) I have a large 1.5oz asymmetrical Tri-radial with a luff of almost 19m and a foot of 11.3m, complete with ATN dowsing sock - I might need one for the symmetrical kite yet - time will tell, this will fly from the end of the 2m prodder pole. A pretty standard roller fuller Genoa for hard on the wind, or too use when its too windy for the kite- or I am too scared to fly it. Then last but not least a large furling screecher not sure of the exact size - about 100 square metres I think - with the right conditions I am hoping for over 20 knots with the main and this boy - we will see.. and we will see if my nerve holds.

Cabin Top

I know this is not a cockpit but could not think where else to put this. We built the cabin top from PolyCore 25mm sheathed with 400gm Biax on either side. Temporary framework was errected and the cabin top constructed over this. The external surface was then glassed with a layer of 600gm Biax and internally the joins taped. The intension was to constuct the lid and lift it down onto the floor and finish it there - but once it was built I realised what a massive construction it was and it was really in the too hard basket. So I lined the internal surface with 4mm marine ply spaced off the inside surface with 50mm strips of DuFlex, this had a great effect of stiffening the roof to a point where we were happy to walk on it. Further stiffening was performed by building a couple of external stringers. Sweet we need somewhere to stand in order to hand the 100 sq m mailsail.
