Keeping things Simple

Is always a good plan, but with the amount of gear this boat has on board, things do tend to get a bit complex.

From experience I know that reliablity is one of the most important attributes of a product. So in cases where I know what had worked well before, well just went with this, things that I had problems with, then I tried someone else's product.

Battery and Distribution Feeds

House Battery is 600 AH AGM Batteries, located under the dinete seats in the saloon, was as close to the centre of gravity I could get them.

Distribution - go with what worked I figured no need to change things this time. The main feed (+ve) from the battery goes to a DC Distribution board. Feeds from this board via fuses or circuit breakers go to all high current loads, namely anchor winch, halyard winch, invertor etc.

This gives a good common place to wire in the battery charger, the feed from the solar panel regulators and the engine alternator feeds. The voltage sensitive relays that control the switch over from engine battery charging to house bank charging are mounted here too.

Other Electrical Appliances

I purchased a 110 litre fridge that sits under the galley, we built a freezer compartment that is in the starboard hull, just could not find the room to put it close to the galley. I have a portable fridge that lives under a cockpit seat too. Pumps - water, grey waste and back waste are all under the sole. High pressure deck wash pump close to the rear boarding steps - hose will reach the anchor chain. Anchor lift 1200 anchor winch with wireless remote control - with electronic chain counter

3500 Watt Pure Sine Wave Invertor. Spare invertor is carried too - enough to power the PC for the electronic charts should the main item fail.

All Lighting is LED - cabin lights, navigation lights and boarding lights - the port / starboard navigation lights are mounted on the side of the cabin to keep them out of the sea spray - or reduce the effect of the spray
